Destiny’s Ride is a Massachusetts nonprofit currently pursuing their Federal 501(c3) status.  It is open to any individual who could benefit from the healing powers of horses.

Therapeutic riding is an individualized program of learning to ride a horse which takes into account a person's physical, mental, and emotional strengths and limitations

Jodie O’Connell Founder and Executive Director is a Massachusetts licensed instructor as well as a registered therapeutic instructor through NARHA (North American Riding for the Handicap Association).  Jodie credits her love of horses and her work with them in helping her heal from a particularly difficult time in her life. At the age of sixteen Jodie became a Right above elbow Amputee after an industrial accident.  Jodie has channeled a love of horses and a belief in their ability to help people with out judgment into a career.  There are so many positive things that horses can teach us, whether it is the nonverbal assistance to raise our spirits through laughter or a smile, or the confidence that we CAN ride an 800 pound animal.  The best is that this new found knowledge carriers over into our everyday lives.  As our self esteem and confidence increase so does our belief in our abilities and talents.  I CAN NOT do that becomes I CAN TRY and I CAN TRY becomes with hard work and dedication I can achieve anything I put my mind to.

Horses taught me this and it is what I hope to teach my clients through Destiny’s Ride.
