HOLLAND, MI, November 7, 2007 –, a Not for Profit dedicated to raising and distributing funds for the continued research into brain tumors, today announced it has been granted 501(c)3 status by the Internal Revenue Service, allowing it to operate as a tax exempt organization and to receive tax deductible contributions from donors. The organization was launched in September of this year by Stephen Coffman, a former business leader who left the human resources marketplace after being diagnosed with cancer and was subsequently diagnosed with a brain tumor.
“We are extremely excited about this critical designation”, said Coffman, “as it will facilitate many key components of our operation. One of our primary goals is to quickly channel monies raised to our beneficiaries, and with this status, our donors will now be able to make tax deductible contributions”. was formed because Coffman wanted to address significant underfunding that has limited brain tumor research, and the organization seeks to deliver funds directly to organizations who can rapidly facilitate have the ability to rapidly facilitate research. Says Coffman, “Many people would be surprised and saddened to learn that some of our most talented researchers and physicians habitually suffer from a lack of funding needed to continue their work”. In addition to forestalling breakthroughs and cures, less research funding has also meant poorer patient outlooks and more expensive treatment and therapy options than other diseases. That is a trend that the organization seeks to reverse.

The Musella Foundation has filled crucial gaps in the brain tumor community through its funding innovative and creative research, with a special emphasis on research that complements, rather than duplicates, the research funded by the federal government.
