CALL FOR GRANT APPLICATIONS

THE SONTAG FOUNDATION IS NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR DISTINGUISHED SCIENTIST AWARDS AND IS ANTICIPATING FUNDING THREE AWARDS IN 2004. EACH AWARD WILL PROVIDE A BRAIN CANCER RESEARCH GRANT TOTALING UP TO $500,000.

APPLICATION DEADLINE: NOON, APRIL 7, 2004 START OF AWARD: OCTOBER 1, 2004

Through Distinguished Scientist Awards, The Sontag Foundation seeks to provide support and recognition to help advance the careers of outstanding researchers who have recently attained an initial faculty appointment. These early career scientists must demonstrate exceptional promise of impacting brain cancer research. Recipients of Distinguished Scientist Awards will each receive funding totaling a maximum of $500,000 over a three-year period. Research conducted should have the potential to generate new knowledge regarding causes of primary brain tumors or lead to increased rates of survival and/or improved functional recovery for individuals with brain tumors.

To be eligible for this award, applicants must currently hold their first full-time faculty appointment at a tax exempt 501(c)(3) academic, research or medical institution in the United States. Eligibility is not limited to investigators currently working in brain cancer research. Scientists from other fields are encouraged to apply with proposals relevant to primary brain tumors; proposed research should be a primary focus of applicant. More than one candidate for this career award for brain cancer researchers may apply from the same institution.
