FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

HAVE A CHANCE WALK TO FIGHT BRAIN TUMORS ANNOUNCES
SECOND ANNUAL CHARITY WALK

New York, June 18, 2007, Furthering their dedication and commitment to finding a cure for brain cancer, non-profit organizations Have A Chance and the Brain Tumor Society have announced plans for the second annual Have A Chance Walk To Fight Brain Tumors, which will take place in Manhattan, NY on Sunday, October 28, 2007. The event, which is open to walkers of all ages, is a 5-kilometer walk that starts and finishes at Battery Park in lower Manhattan.

More than 2,200 people participated in the inaugural walk last year, which raised more than $1 million. Additional details and registration information can be found on the Walk website: www.HaveAChanceWalk.org

Brain tumors are among the most aggressive forms of cancer, yet their treatment gets some of the least federal funding. According to the Brain Tumor Society, each year more than 220,000 people in the United States are diagnosed with a primary or metastatic brain tumor. Brain metastases account for 20 percent of all cancer deaths each year in the United States.

According to Eric Roth, Chairman of Have a Chance, “The cure rate for brain cancer is significantly lower than that for many other types of cancer. Have a Chance was founded to provide a networking for families struggling for answers and the most innovative therapies. We started the walk last year to elevate the fight against brain tumors to a more national spotlight, and bring us one step closer to a world less affected by this disease through significant fundraising efforts.”

The Have A Chance organization was founded in 2001 by Dennis and Arlene Roth after their son was diagnosed with a brain tumor. It was created to provide support to those affected by brain tumors by connecting afflicted families with each other, doctors, pertinent information and direction for treatments and research.

The Brain Tumor Society, which has provided over $9 million since 1989 in support of research, exists to improve the quality of life of brain tumor patients, survivors, and their families, provide informational resources and psychosocial support, improve clinical care, and fund carefully selected scientific research projects to find a cure.
