Total Body Scan Center Opens its Doors in South Florida, Offering Revolutionary Technology that Could Potentially Save Lives

Total Body Scan Centers' Early Prevention Examination Detects Potential Problems Before They Can Become a Long-term Health Risk

MIAMI, July 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Are you concerned about the toll smoking may be taking on your lungs? Curious about whether you will be suffering from a malady handed down from previous generations? These concerns need no longer be a mystery. The Total Body Scan Centers (TBSC) of South Florida will open its first center in the city of Aventura, offering South Florida residents a virtual tour inside their body to detect health problems as early as possible, even before symptoms present themselves.

The TBSC brings the latest in preventive medical technology providing patients with an advanced Helical CT Scan. This exam can potentially detect tumors, cysts, blockages and can diagnose many diseases including emphysema, cancer and heart disease. This medical technology enables patients to quickly see their results, arming them with additional information they would normally not obtain from their yearly physical examination.

Silent killers like cancer and high risk factors for heart attacks, such as calcified plaque found in the coronaries, may be detected through a Total Body Scan before symptoms may appear. These illnesses often present themselves without prior symptoms. According to the American Cancer Society (ACS), in the US, 1 of 4 deaths is from cancer. Early detection is an effective strategy for saving lives and a Total Body Scan may be an important method of early detection.

"People are living longer lives and want to have the peace of mind of knowing they can live life to the fullest without having to worry about potential health concerns," said Dr. Ronald Roskin, medical director of TBSC of South Florida.

TBSC spokespersons predict their newest center should do well due to the demand for body scans in The South Florida area. Further, a Total Body Scan at the Center includes a scan of the brain and complimentary blood work, which most existing centers do not offer. And, and as the busy tourist season begins, The Center expects to attract visitors from the Latin American region.

Anyone over the age of 40 can benefit from this proactive examination, since the chances of contracting a serious illness increase with age. Individuals suffering from chronic health maladies, younger patients with a family history of disease and smokers are also good candidates for a Total Body Scan.

This non-invasive procedure is quick and effortless. Upon the patient's arrival to the Total Body Scan Center, the individual will be escorted to a Scan room. The patient will lie comfortably fully clothed as the Total Body Scan takes images of the body. These images will then appear on a computer. The CT Scan system has an ultra-sensitive material that absorbs 99.9% of the incident of X-Rays. The high efficiency of the detectors reduces the dose to about 30% of that required by conventional detectors.

Within two business days the patient will receive a printed report, CD copy of the images and a follow-up consultation may be scheduled. Patients will either be given a clean bill of health or they may be referred to a specialist for treatment if needed.
