Research Awards Advance Better Brain Tumor Treatments

OAKLAND, Calif., July 9 /PRNewswire/ -- The National Brain Tumor Foundation (NBTF), as part of its annual research award program, has funded seven innovative research studies. The studies not only seek to uncover the best treatments for adult and pediatric brain tumor disease, but improve the quality of life of all brain tumor patients regardless of the stage of treatment they are in.

"These grants represent a crucial component in the process of finding a cure and helping patients and families cope with this devastating disease," said NBTF's Research Chair, Donald R. Share. "NBTF has had a longstanding commitment to brain tumor research and has awarded nearly $2 million toward significant projects by some of our most promising researchers," Share said.

After undergoing a rigorous review process by four separate NBTF Scientific Advisory Committees, seven grants were awarded in amounts from $10,000 to $50,000. Each committee is comprised of several nationally recognized and respected health care professionals in various branches of neuro oncology.
