Foundation grants teen's wish for a piano

By BRIAN BURNES - The Kansas City Star

Through the door of the Danielson home in Independence on Friday morning came a new piano.

Not just any piano. A Wurlitzer spinet piano. Cherry red.

"So that's what you wanted?" asked Joseph Danielson, father of Pueata, 13, a student at Bridger Eighth Grade Center.

"Whoa," said Pueata.

Thanks to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Missouri, which purchased the piano for Pueata, his year is ending much better than it began.

Doctors diagnosed his brain tumor almost 12 months ago. After initial surgery to diagnose the growth, Pueata has been returning to Children's Mercy Hospital for radiation treatments and occasional MRIs to monitor the tumor, said Ruta Danielson, Pueata's mother.
