- Question: Do gamma knife and cyber knife use the same form of radiation? If yes, isn't gamma knife more precise? What would be the possible advantage of cyberknife.......no headframe and the possibility to use it for tumors larger than 3 cm? Anything else?
There are many differences between the two systems. Because of the invasive nature of gamma knife, usually a single dose treatment is given with significant radiobiologic effects. Accuray allows for fractionation, has no headframe, and a different system of localization. Personally, I believe most in our system of fractionated radiosurgery using a non-invasive yet highly accurate headframe.
