Participating patients will have injections (just under the skin) of the vaccine every 3 weeks (Weeks 0, 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, and 21) in the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute. Participating patients will receive the Poly-ICLC injection (into a muscle in your arm or leg) on the same day as each vaccine and again 4 days after each vaccine.
If patients` immune system responds to the vaccine and Poly-ICLC, and the tumor has not progressed with no serious side effects, such patients may receive additional vaccines and injections starting between Weeks 34 and 40. These additional vaccines and injections will be given in the same way, but will now occur every 12 weeks instead of every 3 weeks, for for up to 2 years from the day of the first vaccine and Poly-ICLC injection as long as the tumor does not progress with no major side effects.
