Inhibition of both EGFR and mTOR could potentially result in significant inhibition of the growth of malignant gliomas. OSI-774 inhibits the epidermal growth factor (EGF)-dependent proliferation of cells at nanomolar concentrations and blocks cell progression at the G1 phase.
CCI-779 is an immunosuppressive agent that acts to block the activity of mTOR and inhibit key signaling pathways, resulting in inefficient translation of critical mRNAs important for cell cycle progression. |
