(0.8351)   I would like to ask a question about a Meningioma which is in an inoperable site - the Cavernous Sinus. It apparently can only be de-bulked if radiation does not slow it down or shrink it. My question is: does this mean that the prognosis is not very good? Is a 4 cm tumor in that region classified as big?

(0.7967)   This past Sunday, I attended a brain tumor gathering in New York City sponsored by the Brain Tumor Foundation. During one of the presentations it was stated that the post radiation Temodar protocol was the 5/23-day cycle for six months or possibly a year. I have been on the 5/23 protocol for more than a year and want to know what the current thinking is regarding the number of monthly cycles that are best. Are there any studies out there that I can refer to?

(0.7742)   My mother had a cyst on the brain removed by Dr. Leo Davidoff in NY when she was 16. This was done 60 years ago. I~m sorry, I don~t know what type of cyst it was. In the past year, she has small wires coming out of the top of her forehead. She has been to several physicians to ask about this. At first, they thought they were hairs, but a plastic surgeon biopsied the area and snipped the wires. My first question is: Did they use wires to close the wound year ago? And, she would like to know what to do with this now. No one seems to be able to give her a concrete answer. She lives in New York City. The plastic surgeon clipped the wires, but they have appeared again. She~s 76 and doesn~t want to go for brain surgery at this age, but she is concerned because they hurt her when she washes her face. Has anybody every heard of such a thing before? Thank you in advance for any advice you can offer. I think you sire is a wonderful source of information. Elyse Berman Delray Beach, FL 561-716-7824 elyseb88@comcast.net

(0.7742)   My dad had a meningioma removed 27 years ago. e lost most of the feeling on the left side of his body following the surgery and they were unable to replace the bone flap due to swelling of the brain. He also suffered a few seizures through the years. He had a cyst removed 2 years ago in the same area of his head and at that time they added an artificial bone. He has complained of feeling as if he is in a daze all of the time since the second surgery and says if he tries to stand still he feels like he is swaying back and forth. He feels fine when he is moving and he walks 5 miles a day with no problem. His problem results if he is standing still. Is this an equilibrium problem as a result of the surgery? Is there a medication or procedure that can help him? We do not know where to turn. His doctors have been of little help.
