(0.8351)   Glioblastoma Multiforme: What are the chances that a 14 year old will survive the diagnosis of glioblastoma multiforme?

(0.7967)   My father (age 66) was diagnosed with glioblastoma multiforme three years ago. Until a few months ago, his cancer was in remission but now it is back. He has decided that he does not want to seek any more treatment and his condition is deteriorating rapidly. Because he is depressed, a doctor (but not his regular oncologist) recommended that he take Prozac. Is this a good idea? How does Prozac interact with brain tumors?

(0.7967)   Both of my parents passed away due to glioblastoma multiforme (17 years apart). Are there any tests available that my siblings, my children, or I should have?

(0.7967)   What are the most commom tumors in the occipital lobe?

(0.7967)   How long (in years) should the chemotherapy drug, Temodar, be taken for the treatment of glioblastoma multiforme? Is there any information about the long-term treatment (more than two years) of this type of brain tumor with Temodar?

(0.7967)   What is your opinion on Dr Burzynskis antineoplaston therapy for brain tumors?

(0.7967)   Could you help my husband with a question about his current chemo choices. He was treated for glioblastoma multiforme with surgery (2/05), radiation and Temodar (spring 05, allergic reaction), then BCNU (Fall 05) and another surgery (02/06). He was given three choices following his pathology report that identified a very slight presence of cancerous cells in what they recently removed. They had to do a stain in order to find anything. He can do nothing and watch the MRIs, try CCNU (they say it may affect his lungs much like the BCNU had), or a combination of hydroxyurea and gleevec. Do you have any information or referrals for information on the last choice? And do you agree CCNU affects the lungs like BCNU?

(0.7967)   What is the survival time for a 63 year old male diagnosed with Glioblastoma Multiforme with Chemo and Radiation.

(0.7967)   My husband~s ,age 39, identical twin brother was recently diagnosed with glioblastoma multiforme, would my husband be at a greater risk of developing this tumor than a regular sibling?

(0.7967)   Can you advise the approx. survival time for a 70 year old male after 30 radiation treatments were completed. He was diagonosed with a glioblastoma multiforme on both lobes of the brain approx 6 cm in size. Inoperapable due to location. It had also hermoraged.

(0.7967)   My husband, Vincent, age 64 was recently diagnosed with glioblastoma multiforme grade IV, left frontal lobe, he had a resectioing and now is beginning radiation on Monday. Question: this past week he started experiencing extreme difficulty forming sentences and words. Is this the progression of the disease or will the speech pattern return during radiation? Any information greatly appreciated.

(0.7967)   My husband has been diagnoised with grade IV / Glioblastoma Multiform about 4 mos. ago. He has had surgery, radiation and chemotherapy; right now we are waiting to have an MRI done, he had his last treatment in August. What~s next? and what can I expect from here? Are there any new treatments or researchs available?

(0.7967)   my sister-in-law just had surgery to remove a tumor identified as glioblastoma multiforme. the tumor was the size of a lemon stage 4. the doctor says that if it recurs, she is not a candidate for another surgery. how likely is it to recur? what is the survival period with chemo and radiation. what are the chances of complete recovery

(0.7967)   What is gliosarcoma? What are the typical symptoms, how it is diagnosed, how it is treated and how dangerous it is?

(0.7742)   My mother has been diagnosed with Glioblastoma Multiforme, tumor location: brain stem. She had a stereotactic biopsy and the doctor prescribed 40 radiation treatments with daily intake of Temodal 140mg. The radiation treatment clinic doesn~t work on weekends, so she goes 5 weekdays and pauses for 2 day week-end. However, the doctor told her to take Temodal even for week-ends till the rest of radiation treatment. That means that she would end up taking Temodal for 56 days! On the information sheet for Temodal, it is stated that Temodal should be taken for 42, up to 49 days max! Could you please tell me is it safe for my mother to take Temodal longer then 49 days? Is it safe to follow our doctor~s orders in continuing with Temodal until the end of 40 week-day radiation treatment (and end up taking Temodal for 56 days)? Should she continue taking Temodal on week-ends when she doesn~t go for radiation treatment?

(0.7742)   I have been researching but cannot really find any answers. My father was just diagnosed two months ago with a glioblastoma multiforme. His first cousin also had a brain tumor. Does this constitute a family history and does this mean my sister and I should have MRIs? t seems like there is conflicting information on whether there is a genetic component and if they can test for it.

(0.7742)   My friend was diagonized in early May, 2004, with Glioblastoma Multiforme. He had surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy. After radiation, they did an MRI and it showed a new growth so he started the chemotherapy and, after four chemo treatments, they did another MRI and it had gotten bigger. They now want to do another surgery and try a different chemo. Are there any significant things we should worry about with the second surgery and, since it is still growing after radiation and chemotherapy, what are his chances of survival and how long?

(0.7742)   What is the difference between diffuse astrocytoma grade three, a GBM, and AA grade three? Is it common for low white counts and low platelet counts to continually delay temodar treatments by a couple of weeks?

(0.7742)   My father-in-law was diagnosed with glioblastoma multiforme 2 years ago. Since then he has undergone 4 de-bulking surgeries, 33 radiation treatments, IV chemotherapy, oral(pill) chemotherapy, implanted gliadel wafers (twice) along with a myriad of anti-inflammatory drugs. None of this seems to be working. He is slowly declining physically. Mentally he is in good shape but physically he can no longer walk due to his left side being paralyzed. The doctors claim this is due to the position of the tumor and the compounded effect of the de-bulking surgeries. The doctors claim that they cannot do any more surgeries and that the next step is hospice. Is there anything else out there that we are overlooking that may be of benefit. This individual is very strong willed and is willing to try anything for a chance at survival. Thank you for any and all assisstance in this matter.

(0.7742)   What is the prognosis/survival rate for a 70 year old female diagnosed with Grade 4 fibrillary astrocytoma/glioblastoma multiforme who does not want to endure radiation and chemo? What additional time would she have if she underwent such treatment?

(0.7742)   How do you get a brain tumor? What can you do to treat a brain tumor? Can you provent a brain tumor? Will it ever just go away by its self? Why do you go into a coma? how long are you in a coma before you die? what percent of amaricanes have brain tumors? Is it likely scence my great grandmother had a brain tumor that i will?

(0.7742)   My 57-year-old brother has Glioblastoma Multiforme. He is on steroids and has been since Oct. Within the last five weeks, he has been bruising easily/bleeding on his lower arms and wrists. Does anyone know how this can be prevented? All he is done thus far is cover his lower arms with gauze! If someone could get back to me before 4:00 p.m. today, it would be greatly appreciated! Also, as long as we are on the subject, does anyone know of a doctor in New Jersey that is willing to work "outside the box" and supplement chemotherapy with additives, such as verapimil, tamoxifen, etc.?

(0.7742)   What are the possible side effects of radiation?

(0.7742)   My father was diagnosed with Glioblastoma Multiforme in mid-December 2003. The tumor is located in the left frontoparietal area and was thus deemed inoperable. He is about to begin the sixth and final week of radiation. He has also gone through first round of chemotherapy (Temador). During the course of his treatment he has been going to work daily. Over the course of the last five weeks, his right side mobility had improved substantially and his radio-oncologist expressed ~cautious optimism~ regarding his prognosis. However, just as he is to begin his six week of radiation he lost his balance twice and fell and has lost some of the movement in his right arm. My question is what can cause such deterioration of his neurological condition? Can it be explained by exhaustion, a side-effect of the treatment or that the treatment has not halted the tumor~s growth? Thank you very much.

(0.7742)   Has anyone with glioblastoma multiforme ever survived 10 years or more?
